You probably have questions. That’s a good sign.
Wondering about therapy is often the quiet beginning of it. Here are honest answers to the questions people ask most — and if yours isn’t here, you’re welcome to simply ask.
Do I need to know exactly what’s wrong before starting?
No. Many people simply know that something doesn’t feel right. Part of therapy is making sense of that experience together.
What happens in the first session?
We talk about what brings you in and what life has been like for you recently. There’s no pressure to tell your whole story at once.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
You don’t have to be in crisis. If something feels difficult to carry on your own, therapy may be worth exploring.
Will you push religion or have an agenda?
No. People come from many different experiences and relationships with faith and community. My role isn’t to tell you what to believe. It’s to understand your experience and help you move toward the life you want.
What issues do you work with?
Anxiety. Depression. Relationship difficulties. Emotional overwhelm. Childhood and attachment wounds. Stress. Identity and spiritual questions. And the many ways these experiences overlap.
What is your approach?
My work is relational and trauma-informed, drawing from Internal Family Systems, somatic approaches, Psychosomatic Breathwork, and other therapeutic models. The relationship itself is always the foundation.
What if therapy hasn’t helped me before?
That’s more common than you might think. A different approach, a different relationship, or simply a different point in life can lead to a very different experience.
How long does therapy take?
That depends on your goals and what you’re hoping to work on. Some people come for shorter periods of support. Others stay longer for deeper work.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. I see clients in person at my office in Monsey, NY — convenient to Spring Valley, Airmont, Chestnut Ridge, and the wider Rockland County area — and virtually anywhere in New York State. We can decide together what works best for you.
What languages are sessions available in?
Sessions are available in both Yiddish and English — whichever feels most natural to you.
Reach out to schedule an initial consultation. It’s simply an opportunity for us to talk and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
Whatever your question, asking it is a fine way to begin.
You don’t need every answer before you reach out. Send a note with whatever you’re wondering, and we’ll take it from there — slowly, together.
